Raid Points in Kabaddi: How Scoring Works

Quick Summary

  • A raid point is earned when a raider touches defenders and returns to the home half.
  • Bonus points, tackle points and all-outs add to the score.
  • Rules vary a little between leagues.
  • We did not confirm kabaddi markets on KKBD; check its sportsbook.

What is a raid point in kabaddi? It is the basic way a team scores when its raider crosses into the opposing half, touches defenders and gets back safely. The sport has other ways to score, and the details matter if you ever read a points market. This post explains the scoring in plain words. We did not confirm that KKBD lists kabaddi, so its sportsbook page is where to check for markets.

How does a raid work?

One player from the attacking team, the raider, enters the opposing half and tries to touch defenders. They must return to their own half before the raid time runs out, and they must do it in a single breath, chanting "kabaddi" as proof. Each defender touched earns one point if the raider returns safely.

If the raider is held and cannot return, the defending team scores instead. That makes every raid a small contest with a clear winner.

A do-or-die raid is a special case: when a team has gone two raids without scoring, the third must score or the raider is out. Those raids are tense, and they matter for how points arrive.

What are tackle and bonus points?

A tackle point goes to the defense when it stops a raider. A bonus point may go to a raider who crosses a marked line while the defense has enough players on the mat. Rules differ across leagues, so check the league you follow.

Together with raid points, these make up the running score you see on screen.

A raider can also score a bonus point and still be tackled, so a single raid can produce points for both sides. Keep that in mind when counting a live score.

What is an all-out?

When a team loses all its players on the mat, it is "all out" and the opposition gets bonus points. Players then return to the mat. All-outs cause the biggest swings in a match.

Those swings are why kabaddi totals are set high and why live prices can jump. See our guide to kabaddi betting for the market side.

The mat itself is small, so substitutions and revivals happen frequently. A revived player returns for each point earned by the team, which changes how long a lead lasts.

Why do scoring rules matter for a bet?

A "total points" market counts everything: raid, tackle, bonus and all-out points. A "raid points" market, if offered, may count only raid points. These are different numbers, and confusing them is an easy mistake.

Read the market's definition, as you would for a football bet with extra time. A good definition tells you exactly what is counted.

What about super raids and super tackles?

Some leagues award extra points for a raid that touches three or more defenders, or for a tackle made when the defense has few players. The names and thresholds vary.

Match reports and league rules explain these. If you do not follow the sport closely, it is wiser to skip points markets than to guess.

If you follow the pro leagues, check the scoring summary on the league site before you read a market, because the formula may have changed between seasons.

How do you use this safely?

Use the scoring knowledge to understand a market, not to predict one. Even an expert cannot know how many raids will succeed. Set a small stake and stick to it.

In three steps

Reading a kabaddi score in 3 steps

  1. 1
    Count the raid points

Each defender touched on a safe return is a point for the raiding team.

  2. 2
    Add tackles and bonuses

Defensive stops and bonus points go on top of raid points.

  3. 3
    Note the all-outs

An all-out adds bonus points and resets the mat, so watch for them.

Your questions

What is the difference between raid and tackle points?

Raid points go to the attacking team for a safe touch. Tackle points go to the defense for stopping a raider.

Do all leagues score the same way?

Mostly, but details such as bonus lines and super raids differ. Check the league's rules.

Does KKBD have a kabaddi points market?

We did not confirm it. Check the sportsbook on KKBD.

Can scoring knowledge help me win bets?

It helps you read a market. It does not predict a result, and any bet can lose.

Is a raid point worth one point?

Each defender touched is usually one point, so a raid can score several at once.
